Express Entry is a unique online system used to administer applications for permanent residence from skilled workers, which are chosen based on their skills, ability to settle in Canada and potential contribution to Canadian economy.

Express Entry manages applications for three economic immigration programs:

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP)

Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP)

Provinces in Canada have an agreement with the Government of Canada that allows them to nominate immigrants who have genuine intentions to settle in that province. The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program is an economic immigration program that nominates people for permanent residence specifically in Alberta. Potential ‘nominees’ must have skills and abilities to fill job shortages in the province, and be able to provide for their families.

Available streams include:
→ Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS)
→ Alberta Express Entry Stream
→ Self-Employed Farmer Stream

Caregiver

Canada value the work done by caregivers. They have options to come to Canada temporarily or to become a permanent resident.

Caregivers provide care to children, seniors and people with high medical needs. Canada manages two programs, Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot, to assist qualified caregivers and their family members to come to Canada and become permanent residents.

Both programs are designed to bring workers with specific experience (NOC 4411 and NOC 4412) to Canada on temporary work permits, with possibility to apply for permanent residence after obtaining enough required work experience.

Atlantic Immigration Pilot

The pilot is designed to help employers in Atlantic Canada to attract and hire foreign skilled workers who want to immigrate to Atlantic Canada and international graduates who want to stay in Atlantic Canada after they graduate.

This employer-driven program also helps to fill skilled positions for jobs that Atlantic employers been unable to fill locally. The Atlantic provinces include New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island. In order to qualify for program you must receive a job offer from a designated employer in Atlantic Canada.

Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot

The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot is a community-driven program. The program is designed to stimulate economic growth in smaller communities and creates a path for skilled foreign workers who would like to to work and live in one of the participating communities and become permanent residents.

Communities selected for the Rural Immigration Pilot Program include:
→ Sault Ste. Marie, ON
→ Thunder Bay, ON
→ Brandon, MB
→ Altona/Rhineland, MB
→ Vernon, BC

There are six more communities selected but their pilot programs are not launched yet. Each Community must meet specific criteria and demonstrate they have employment opportunities available for foreign workers, as well as having the ability to support the settlement of newcomers.
